Finalization of the literature review on driving behavior

Since its start, the BeSmart project aims to develop an innovative smartphone application with tools for assessing and improving the behavior and safety of all drivers. To that end, understanding driving behavior, the risk factors that endanger drivers, and their interaction with security systems is a critical step. Therefore, the aim of the first Deliverable of the project is to provide an extensive literature review of the driving behavior and related risk factors, of the existing driver recording tools and on how user feedback affects driving behavior in total.

ITS Hellas – 4th Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference, Athens

The 4th Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems and related developments in Greece, which was organized by ITS Hellas, took place with great success in Athens, on 18-19 December 2018. The aim of the conference was to discuss the broad deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) as a tool to achieve economic growth and prosperity and ensure the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of transport for the benefit of the respective industry, the end-users and the environment. BeSmart Kick-off Meeting

The Kick-off meeting of the BeSmart research project took place with great success at the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), on 22 August 2018 aiming at initiating the project activities according to the relevant work program. During the BeSmart kick-off meeting, partners had the chance to lay the ground for a successful and productive collaboration in order to meet the project objectives. Decisions on key issues were made and the first steps of the work were scheduled.

The BeSmart project with the title “Multi-modal driver behavior and safety support system on the basis of smartphone applications” is a research program, co-financed by the European Union – European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Greek national funds through the Operational Program “ Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK) of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF). The objective of the project is to develop an innovative and seamless Internet of Things application with tools to evaluate and improve the behavior and safety of all drivers (car drivers, powered two-wheelers, cyclists, professional drivers) along multi-modal trips.
